Space Marine Adventures – Labyrinth of the Necrons

The space marine adventure series by Games Workshop is a surprisingly entertaining gateway game onto the Warhammer 40k universe.

Initially, I just wanted to paint up some Space Marines. Ultimately, I saw how many I had across all of my boxed games and decided to paint all of them at once. A mighty task at hand, but this allowed me to paint up a coherent force usable in 2nd edition Warhammer 40k with lots of original squatty Space Marines and a few additional tanks. I shall show them off at a later time.

The game series is an entertaining series of tactical mini games, centred around a group of space marine operatives. The first instace takes the heroes into the catacombs deep under the surface of a tomb world. The game board consists of multiple two sided tiles, connected to staircases and with teleporters and consols defended by the Necrons. The game can be played alone or with a group of friends.

The only issue I had with the overall series of games is that it seemed unlikely that multiple chapters would send a Space Marine each on a combined special mission, unless being part of the Death Watch. That ultimately made me go through with painting the entire lot like Blood Angels – my personal favorite Space Marine chapter.

A special highlight was the Imperial Space Marine collectors model.
